Washing vehicles with no water
Affected by a drought order or hosepipe ban?
Waterless wash options for cars and commercial vehicles in a drought
Large parts of the UK are currently facing the prospect of Drought Orders and hosepipe bans in summer 2012. Trade customers may face restrictions on washing cars and commercial vehicles in drought conditions and need to explore alternative waterless wash options. Autosmart has developed a wide range of drought-beating, waterless wash vehicle cleaning solutions to help our trade customers such as car washes and valeters wash vehicles, even if they are affected by Drought Orders.
WATERLESS WASHING
The biggest challenge when washing vehicles without water is to prevent scratching.
Light soiling is relatively easy to deal with. Heavier soiling like mud splatter from wet roads is more difficult.
Light soiling waterless wash options
Autosmart offers 2 waterless wash options to clean lightly soiled carss without water. A key part of the process is to use an extra thick microfibre cloth, which will trap any loose particles of grit and help minimise the risk of scratching.
Tango – Cleans and polishes in 1 action
Spray neat Tango liberally onto the paintwork and carefully wipe off in one direction, using an Autosmart extra thick microfibre cloth. This pushes the grit in one direction, ensuring it catches in the cloth and minimises the chance of scratching.
• No need to buff.
Reglaze – Easy to use waterless wash cleaner
Reglaze is a perfect waterless wash for valeters wanting a fast and easy clean on cars that will also be polished. Liberally spray Reglaze diluted 1:10 onto the paintwork and carefully wipe off in one direction, using an Autosmart extra thick microfibre cloth. This pushes the grit in one direction, ensuring it catches in the cloth and minimises the chance of scratching.
• No need to buff.
Autosmart extra thick microfibre cloth - The right microfibre cloth is key to the waterless wash process. The Autosmart extra thick microfibre cloth traps loose particles of grit and helps to minimise the risk of scratching when cleaning cars without water.
Mud splatters / heavier soiling
For cars that are heavily soiled or mud splattered, low water wash options are preferable to waterless washing.
Put a small amount of either Duet or Reglaze into a bucket with a Grit Guard. Wash over the surface using an Autosmart bobble mitt, keeping the surface wet. The bobble mitt will help to trap any grit. Wipe over the surface with a damp extra thick Autosmart microfibre cloth.
